Ordering personalised message jewellery — frequently asked questions

Most pieces are made within 1–3 working days and go out straight away. The parcel usually reaches the parcel machine the next day, so from order to hand is about 3–4 days on average.

If something is going to take longer — a part is out of stock, for instance — we email you ourselves. You will not have to chase us.

If you order today and the date is 5+ days away, then yes, comfortably.

If it is tighter than that, write before you order or send a message on Instagram. We will look at the calendar and tell you honestly whether we can make it. We are rather good at rush orders, but we only promise what we can actually deliver.

Five minutes, five steps:

No. You can order as a guest. An account only makes life easier if you order often and want to see your past orders.

Yes. Enter their name and a parcel machine that suits them at checkout.

There is no paper invoice or price tag in the parcel, so the surprise stays a surprise. The invoice comes to you by email.

Yes, most products have a gift box option on the product page. If you like, we can add a short text to the box — a good idea when you are sending the gift straight to the recipient.

Yes, and they are usually the most enjoyable work. If you have an idea that is not in the shop — write to us. Send a photo or a sketch too. We will tell you honestly whether it is doable, what it would cost and how long it would take.

We do. Logo engraving, personal names for a team, gift boxes — all of it, from 5 pieces upwards. See the corporate gifts page and write to us with the quantity and deadline.

This is the most common worry and there is nothing wrong with you. A few directions that almost always work:

• A date — when you met, a wedding, a child’s birth. Three numbers, a whole story.
• A nickname only the two of you use
• Coordinates of a place that means something
• One word that describes that person — „calm”, „brave”, „mine”
• A short line from a joke between you

If it still will not come — write to us and tell us who it is for and what the occasion is. We will suggest a couple of options. We do this every day.

It depends on the product and the letter size. Every product page has a counter next to the text field showing how many characters are left — once you go over, the system will not let you continue.

Rule of thumb: the longer the message, the smaller the letters. The bracelet with your own message, for example, holds up to 45 characters on one line; a smaller disc holds 10–16.

Hand-stamping has five: 1.5 mm Basik and Deko, 3 mm Basik, Deko and Bridgitte.

• Deko — the most popular, elegant and very readable
• Bridgitte — more like handwriting, softer
• Basik — everyday and sturdy

Engraving has a wider choice of fonts, because the laser does not depend on physical stamps. See all the samples on the lettering page.

Yes, both. We hand-stamp in capitals and lower case, so you can write exactly as the message should look — either all in capitals or as an ordinary sentence.

Yes, all of them. We have the stamps for them, and engraving has no alphabet limits at all.

On many products, yes — there is a separate option on the product page. The back is a good place for a date or a second person’s name when the front needs to stay clean.

On some pieces, such as the four-sided bar necklace, there are four engravable sides.

Yes. For hand-stamping we have icon stamps — heart, star, infinity, flower, peace sign, dog and others — which you choose from a separate option on the product page.

With engraving we can also do a symbol of your own, as long as it is simple and clear.

On fingerprint pieces the product page has a full designer with a live preview — you see exactly what the piece will look like before you add it to the cart.

For other products we do not send a separate proof. But if you want to be sure, write to us — we will send a photo before engraving.

We make the piece exactly with the text you enter — we do not correct spelling or change the wording on our own, because a „mistake” may well be deliberate.

So do read the text over in the cart. That is where you can still change it.

Two completely different crafts, both of them ours.

Hand-stamping — each letter is struck into the metal one at a time, with a steel stamp and a hammer. The letter sinks into the metal and leaves a raised mark you can feel. Because it is handwork, the letters are not at mathematically equal distances or on a perfectly straight line — much like handwriting. That is the beauty of it.

Engraving — a laser burns the image into the surface of the metal. The result is fine, even and precise. Engraving can do far more than letters: a fingerprint, handwriting, a drawing, coordinates, musical notes.

A simple guide:

• You want it to look handmade, warm and imperfect → hand-stamped
• You want a fine, precise, minimal line or a long text → engraved
• You want an image, a fingerprint or handwriting → engraved (stamping can only do letters and icons)

On some products you choose yourself; on the rest the technique is set by the piece.

A stamped mark is deeper and lasts practically forever. Engraving sits closer to the surface and, under very heavy daily rubbing, can dull over the years.

For jewellery worn in the ordinary way, neither is a concern.

Stamped letters are the same metal as the piece, so they stay discreet. If we fill the recesses with black, the text jumps out and is readable from much further away.

The option is on the product page. For small 1.5 mm letters we recommend the black fill — otherwise they are barely noticeable.

The depth and contrast of the engraving.

Soft is fine and light — lovely if you want the piece to be quiet and the text to reveal itself only up close. More pronounced is darker and readable at arm’s length.

If the piece is a gift and the message is meant to be shown, choose the more pronounced one.

No. Both change the metal permanently.

That is why we ask you to read the text over in the cart — you can still change it there, but not after the order is placed.

Not quite — and that is the charm of personal handwork.

On hand-stamped pieces the placement, depth and spacing of the letters can vary a little. The result of an engraved image also depends on the lines of the original and the size of the piece. Every piece is made to your order and is therefore one of a kind.

Write the words on white paper with a black pen or marker — the thicker the line, the better the result. Write larger than usual (letters about 2–3 cm tall), because we will reduce it to the size of the piece. Photograph it straight on in diffuse light.

If you have the handwriting of someone who has died — from a letter, a card, the margin of a recipe — that works too. Send a photo or a scan and we will clean it up.

No. You can send a photo of an old letter, card, recipe or any handwriting you have kept.

It might be a grandmother’s written name, a child’s first „mum”, a partner’s signature. What matters is that the handwriting is clearly visible in the photo.

Yes, and honestly it is one of the loveliest things we do.

Simple drawings with clear lines work best — a stick figure, a heart, a sun, a cat whose paws point the wrong way. The fewer the details, the better it lives on a small piece.

Tips that make the difference:

• let the child draw with a black or dark marker on white paper (if the drawing is already done in pale blue pencil, send it anyway — we strengthen the contrast ourselves)
• photograph the whole drawing, we will crop what is needed
• do not worry if the drawing is large — we reduce it to the size of the piece and the lines stay

If the child has written their own name or „MUM”, then that. Nothing lovelier exists. See the drawing necklace or keyring.

A clear, sharp image with as much contrast as possible. If you are photographing handwriting or a drawing:

• white paper
• a dark pen or marker
• photograph straight on, not at an angle
• good, even light with no shadows
• diffuse daylight by a window is ideal — not direct sun, not a flash

An ordinary phone photo is perfectly enough.

No, please do not. Send us the original file, just as it is — we prepare the image for engraving ourselves and remove the paper, the tabletop and the shadows.

Please do not apply filters or „auto-enhance”, and do not shrink the file. That takes away exactly the detail we need.

No. The engraving is in the tone of the metal itself — a darker line on lighter metal.

From a colour image we use the lines, shapes and contrasts, not the colours. That is why a high-contrast image comes out best: a red drawing on a green background may look very distinct to the eye, but not to the laser.

Generally no. We engrave only what you actually want — the drawing, not the paper; the animal, not the sofa behind it.

If there is something you definitely want kept or definitely removed, write it in the order notes.

The laser translates a photo into dark and light areas, so contrast matters more than detail.

A good photo: a clear subject, a simple or blurred background, even daylight, taken close up (the face or the animal’s head filling most of the frame), the original file from your phone.

What comes out badly: a photo sent through Messenger or WhatsApp or saved as a screenshot (compressed, detail gone), a busy background, many people, a very small face, strong backlight or deep shadows on the face.

If in doubt, send the photo before ordering — we will look at it and tell you honestly whether it will make something beautiful. It is free and it saves disappointment.

No, and that is its charm. An engraving is a stylised, graphic interpretation — something like an ink drawing or an old stone carving.

Faces are recognisable, but fine gradations (hair, a thin shadow) become simpler. For every photo we do the processing by hand before engraving and choose the contrast so the result is the best it can be.

A face needs at least 20 mm of width to stay recognisable.

A paw print, a fingerprint, a silhouette or a simple drawing already work well at 12 mm. On a very small disc we would suggest text or a simple symbol rather than a photo.

On a small pendant, one clear image is almost always lovelier than three tiny ones.

If you have several children and several drawings, the better options are: a second engraving on the back, several pendants on the same chain, or a larger piece. Write to us with what you have in mind — we will say what will genuinely look good.

JPG, PNG, WEBP and HEIC (the iPhone default). Files can be up to 5 MB — an ordinary phone photo is fine exactly as it is.

If the upload will not work for some reason, just email the file and we will attach it to your order ourselves.

We look at every image before engraving. If we can see it will not make a good result, or we need something clarified, we get in touch.

Our aim is not simply to feed a file into a machine — we want the end result to be beautiful. No order goes into production with a bad file.

We use it only to make your product. We do not put your child’s drawing or anyone’s fingerprint on Instagram or into advertising without your explicit permission — not even anonymously.

Files are deleted automatically 30 days after the order is completed. More detail in our privacy terms.

If you would like us to show the finished work, tell us — we would be glad to.

You do not need to go anywhere — you do it at home in a couple of minutes. You need a pencil, white paper and sticky tape.

1. A clean, dry finger. Wash your hands and dry them properly. A damp or greasy finger leaves blurred lines.
2. Make a dark patch on the paper. Draw a square of about 5 × 5 cm and shade it evenly dark with a pencil.
3. Rub your fingertip on the patch so the ridges carry a proper layer of graphite.
4. Press your finger onto the sticky side of the tape — only ONCE. Do not move or roll your finger, or the print will smudge. Lift the finger straight up.
5. Stick the tape onto white paper. Now the print is clearly visible: dark ridges on a white background.
6. Photograph it from directly above in good daylight, with the phone parallel to the paper.

The pencil method gives a sharper print than an ink pad, because ink tends to spread.

No. What matters is not the tool but the result: the ridges of the print must be clearly distinguishable in the photo.

The pencil-and-tape method works very well and everything you need is already at home.

A good print: you can see clear separate ridges, the pattern in the centre of the finger is visible, the lines have not run together.

A bad print: a black blob (too much graphite), a broken pale shadow (too little), or a smudged print (the finger moved).

You do not need a perfect print — we clean the image up before engraving if needed.

Make several and photograph them all together in one image — that way we choose the clearest and you do not have to decide from memory which one is „right”.

Three or four prints side by side on one sheet is ideal.

Send it anyway. We look at every piece of work before engraving, and if the print will not do we write to you and ask for a new one. No order goes into production with a bad print.

And if you have doubts before ordering, send us a photo — we will tell you.

If you have a print on paper, on a document or kept as a memento, send us the best photo or scan you can (a scan is better).

If the pattern is visible, we can usually work with it. We will look at it and tell you honestly whether it will make something beautiful.

Yes. A baby’s fingerprint is smaller and finer, so we suggest the larger 20 mm print. A toe print works too.

The same goes for a paw print — it works well, because the pattern is larger and clearer than a human finger.

Yes. If you have the print — from a funeral home or a document, for instance — we will engrave it just as carefully.

Write to us if you need help. Orders like these matter to us and we treat them accordingly.

You upload the photo, choose the size of the print (Ø 12 or 20 mm) and the shape (circle or heart), add a name, date or initial if you like, and drag a box around exactly the part of the print that goes on the piece.

You see a preview straight away. The design has to be confirmed before adding to the cart — that way we know exactly what you saw and what you expect. See the fingerprint necklace.

Measure the circumference of the wrist with a ribbon or tape measure and add about 1–1.5 cm, depending on how loosely you want to wear it.

Many of our bracelets have an adjustable cord — those fit every wrist and you do not have to worry about sizing. See the measuring guide with video.

The surest way: take a ribbon, put it around your neck and move it until the pendant sits exactly where you want it. Then measure the ribbon.

As a rule 40–45 cm sits at the collarbone, 45–50 cm above the breastbone, and 55 cm+ falls lower. See the measuring page.

Three tricks:

• quietly measure a bracelet or chain they already have
• choose a product where the length is adjustable — the safest option
• for a necklace, 45 cm is the safest choice and suits most people

Mainly stainless steel (surgical steel), plus sterling silver, copper, brass, glass beads and various cords.

Stainless steel does not turn green, does not rust and handles water. The exact material of each product is stated on its page.

Stainless steel is generally a good choice for sensitive skin too. The base of our Frostage earrings is sterling silver and the beads are attached without glue, so those are especially gentle.

Copper and brass can leave a temporary green mark on some people’s skin — it is not harmful and washes off, but if you know your skin does that, choose stainless steel or silver.

Over time they can — perfume, hand cream, hairspray and cleaning products all affect the finish of metal.

One simple rule solves the whole thing: the jewellery goes on last. Cream, perfume, clothes, then the piece. And off first in the evening.

Briefly: take it off before water, sweat and chemicals. Not in the shower, not in the sauna, not in the pool, not in the sea.

Do not sleep in it — chains tangle and cords break. Keep pieces apart from one another (a pouch, a small box, a jewellery stand) so they do not scratch. Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing.

To a DPD or Smartpost parcel machine — you choose which suits you at checkout.

When the parcel is in the machine you get an SMS and an email with the door code.

Orders over €34 are sent free. For smaller orders the parcel machine fee is added, and you see it at checkout before paying.

Generally no — we send everything to a parcel machine, because that is simplest for us and for you.

If you have a very particular situation, write to us and we will see what can be done.

Write or call straight away — if we have not started engraving or stamping yet, we will change it gladly.

Since we make within 1–3 working days, the window is short. Do not wait. The surest place to check is still the cart.

Be honest and write immediately. If the piece is not yet made, we correct it free of charge.

If the piece is already finished, a personal engraving unfortunately cannot be undone. But do get in touch — we will find a solution. Nobody has ever annoyed us by asking.

Personalised items — those carrying your text, fingerprint, photo or handwriting — are not covered by the 14-day right of withdrawal, because they are made specifically for you and cannot be sold to anyone else. That is what the law says as well.

Non-personalised items (ready-made pieces, for example) can be returned within 14 days if unused and in their original packaging. Full conditions are in our terms of sale.

That is a different matter entirely, and there you always have a right to a solution. Mistakes happen in handwork — ours included.

Send a photo and a description and we will send a corrected item out, usually the next working day. You can raise a claim within 2 years.

Yes. With personal handwork no two pieces are identical the way mass production is.

Hand-stamping especially can vary a little in the placement, force and spacing of the letters. That is a natural part of the craft, not a defect.

NFC is a small chip inside the piece that your phone reads when you hold the piece close. There is no app to download — every recent iPhone and Android does it by itself.

On an iPhone, keep the screen on and bring the piece near the top edge of the phone; on Android, a touch to the back of the phone is enough. If you can pay by card with your phone, you can use an NFC piece — it is the same technology.

SÕHE is Estonian for a moment with a message. It is a bracelet whose tap opens content you chose — a Spotify song or playlist, a photo album link, or both, plus a personal message the recipient sees when it opens.

You add the link on the product page when ordering and we bind it to the piece before sending. A good gift when you want to give someone the music that means something to you both, without having to explain it.

The content is permanent — it is bound to the bracelet when it is made and cannot be changed later, so think the link through and send the one that really matters. See the SÕHE bracelet.

No. The NFC chip works from the field the phone itself generates, so there is no battery, no charging and no app.

It will still work in five years, when the phone has long been replaced.
